- City of Detroit to partner with Google to create a portal specifically for affordable housing in Detroit to make it easier for Detroiters to find and apply for affordable housing
- 13 employees of the Housing and Revitalization Department(HRD) will be working with Google.org to create and maintain the site. Timeline for completion of the site is end of 2021 and citizens will be able to filter and search for different housing options and this will enable citizens to rent and stay in the City.
- The City is also ramping up their affordable housing portfolio and their goal is to create equal opportunity for everyone.

Hey Shirin, very interesting article! I think Kelsey also chose to write about the same technology. From reading the article, I wonder why Google is creating such as technology- I think it’s a wonderful idea, but I am skeptical of what they get in return… It would also be interesting to know whether Google or the government will track families once they are processed and placed into a specific home. This search tool may bring privacy concerns into discussions, especially since Google has a history of tracking data. Or in this case, would tracking data be a positive thing? It would also be fascinating to learn about how much data is needed for the tool to successfully help families find affordable housing. Thanks for sharing!
